Little Tokyo visit on Sunday. Went to the Kinokuniya Bookstore, Anzen Hardware and had lunch at Daikokuya Ramen.
Daikokuya Ramen: The best ramen in town! Tonkotsu soup. The interior is very old, so remember you are here for the food. Rating: ★★★★★ - click here - for their website
Anzen Hardware: Great place to find Japanese tools like carving knives and cross cut saws.
Departures (Okuribito) the winner of the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar. A majority of the outdoor locations were shot in Sakata city, Yamagata Prefecture. The house/cafe used by the main characters is about an hour away in Kaminoyama city also in Yamagata Prefecture. According to my relatives who live in Kaminoyama, my grandfather who was a carpenter built this building. The interiors used in the movie were shot on a soundstage.
